		<description>Nina, it was a window strike- sorry if that wasn&#039;t clear from the text! Sad of course, but I was able to put it on paper while it was fresh. 

Melissa, it&#039;s a combination of doing a mental &quot;freeze frame&quot; which means holding a memory snapshot in your mind&#039;s eye for the few seconds it takes to draw it, and then you supplement it with additional looks. Part of this is experience, practice, and a bit of anatomy study beforehand. I&#039;ve talked about this technique here in this post:

		<description>How do you catch so much of the bird in your sketches, when they are often moving subjects?  Your sketches are so detailed and accurate in gesture are they from one sighting and the bird sits or from multiple sightings?
